{"id":712,"date":"2013-03-21T15:39:41","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T22:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/?p=712"},"modified":"2013-03-21T15:39:41","modified_gmt":"2013-03-21T22:39:41","slug":"stakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/?p=712","title":{"rendered":"Stakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/?attachment_id=713\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-713\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-713\" alt=\"garden treasures 2\" src=\"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/garden-treasures-2-300x223.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/garden-treasures-2-300x223.jpg 300w, https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/garden-treasures-2.jpg 714w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>We had a date to set the house stakes for yesterday morning at 8:30.\u00a0 Well, it poured rain all night and all morning.\u00a0 We cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty minutes later &#8211; out comes the sun.\u00a0 Along with the sun came massive winds.\u00a0 So, we did some errands and cooled out heels.<\/p>\n<p>Early afternoon, sun is still shining, wind still howling, but we reschedule.\u00a0 As we drive to the property, there are huge black clouds to the north.<\/p>\n<p>We get to the property and shortly thereafter, the hail starts.\u00a0 Of course!\u00a0 However, Mother Nature did not thwart us!\u00a0 The stakes are set!\u00a0 It is amazing to me that the house footprint looks so tiny.\u00a0 It is not a huge home to begin with, but I look at those stakes and I am bewildered.\u00a0 I think it has to do with the scale of the trees and the sky and the land.\u00a0 I am told that the house size will change in my head several times over the construction time.\u00a0 It will look tiny, then large, then small and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>While we were staking, the other crew was attempting to drill under the road.\u00a0 This is a rocky Island.\u00a0 There are glacial remnants.\u00a0 Apparently, the drill was thwarted by such.\u00a0 Dang.\u00a0 Plan &#8220;B&#8221; is being formulated.\u00a0 It is frustrating that we have to drill because the power company gave us a &#8220;bad&#8221; map.<\/p>\n<p>So, we take steps forward and move chess pieces backwards.\u00a0 It is a huge game and we want to win.\u00a0 No, we will win.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had a date to set the house stakes for yesterday morning at 8:30.\u00a0 Well, it poured rain all night and all morning.\u00a0 We cancelled.
