\"\"<\/a>Exhaustion.<\/p>\n

I am so tired that I don’t know what to say.\u00a0 I want to tell you all about today’s massive moving of stuff..to the thrift store (again), the trash (again), sold (again), packed (again).<\/p>\n

Today, I help my mother’s wooden straight needle holder in my hand.\u00a0 It was falling apart as I held it…and yet, it will be with us on the island.\u00a0 I packed matching knitting needles and crochet hooks and I was ready to toss the broomstick lace implement.\u00a0 My husband saw it and thought it was worth saving.\u00a0 Odd beginnings and endings.\u00a0 Odd moments.\u00a0 Odd times.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow the entire upstairs should be empty.\u00a0 The animals (2 dogs, 2 cats) are beyond upset.\u00a0 Long ago, they thought we were packing for a vacation and yet now, it has turned into a very strange occurrence.\u00a0 Beds are disappearing.\u00a0 Blankets moved about.\u00a0 Furniture is not where it is supposed to be.\u00a0 Cats want to jump onto a couch ledge and know it’s there…well, it’s not.\u00a0 Tomorrow, the cat roost that Mark built will go from upstairs to downstairs.\u00a0 We will\u00a0 place it in front of a window, but it will not be in the expected spot.<\/p>\n

And so we, too, are surrounded with change and flux.\u00a0 Our next few steps will be momentous.\u00a0 All around us lilacs bloom, iris buds open, scarlet runner beans are pushing though the earth.\u00a0 The second wave of miller moths is upon us.\u00a0 The lettuce, arugula, radicchio and marigolds are reaching for the sun.\u00a0\u00a0 Most likely, we will miss the harvest of it all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
