\"SONY<\/a>Summer is a very busy time on the Island.\u00a0 There is so much to do that it is often overwhelming.<\/p>\n

Last weekend was the annual\u00a0Coupeville Arts and Crafts Show and the Gray’s Harbor Pirate Ships came to town.\u00a0 We had the pleasure of a 3-hour battle cruise on an absolutely perfect day.\u00a0 The Hawaiian Chieftain and the Lady Washington battled it out on Penn Cove.\u00a0 It was awesome!<\/p>\n

The garden fence is done, except for the gate.\u00a0 We have been\u00a0loading and unloading\u00a0concrete blocks for the raised beds.\u00a0 One more load to go.\u00a0 Then we will place cardboard at the bottom of the beds to stifle weed growth.\u00a0\u00a0Hopefully, a\u00a0few fall plantings will make it into the ground.<\/p>\n

The house has undergone a couple of changes.\u00a0 We had screening put into the gutters.\u00a0 We were not comfortable with the underground gutter drainage and the prospect of the tiny fir needles clogging the system.\u00a0 So, we had screening placed in the gutters.\u00a0 So far, so good.<\/p>\n

We moved a bit of furniture and we still have paintings and rugs to hang.\u00a0 We are thinking about having a heater installed in the master bath.\u00a0 We just don’t run the floor heat as warm as a lot of people do – I guess?!\u00a0 A bit\u00a0more heat in the bathroom would be good.\u00a0 We have a small wall heater in the upstairs bath and we should have done the same downstairs.\u00a0 Live and learn.\u00a0 It is certainly not needed in the summer, but fall is approaching.<\/p>\n

We had visitors for a week and they thought the house and the Island were terrific.\u00a0 We do too!\u00a0 We went to a Lavender Festival and I am now determined to have a lavender garden in some sort of spiral pattern.\u00a0 Lavender is beautiful and mosquitoes don’t like it.\u00a0 Double whammy!<\/p>\n
