{"id":1086,"date":"2014-03-26T13:34:15","date_gmt":"2014-03-26T20:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/?p=1086"},"modified":"2014-03-26T13:34:15","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T20:34:15","slug":"damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/?p=1086","title":{"rendered":"Damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/11-24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1087\" alt=\"11-24\" src=\"http:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/11-24-223x300.jpg\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/11-24-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/smugglerscove.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/11-24.jpg 532w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/a>The other day, I noticed bit of pink surveyor&#8217;s tape out in the forest.\u00a0 I was quite sure we had taken most of it down.<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, upon inspection, there were new lines of tape all along the edge of the property.\u00a0 We went out and walked the entirety of the property and the tape was interspersed with\u00a0pink and blue tape in certain areas.<\/p>\n<p>Recently on the Island, there have appeared\u00a0a swath of clear-cut properties.\u00a0 It is heartbreaking.\u00a0 They clear-cut and then place the property up for sale.\u00a0 Who would buy it?\u00a0 Damaged goods for sure.\u00a0 Could this clear-cutting be in response to the newly enforced forest management policies?\u00a0 These people owe\u00a0significant sums\u00a0in back taxes because they were not following the letter of the law and to forestall financial disaster, they clear-cut, sell the timber, pay their taxes and place a for sale sign out front.\u00a0 Talk about good intentions gone awry.<\/p>\n<p>We received notice 75% of the\u00a0surrounding trees are doomed.\u00a0 This is not good news.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The other day, I noticed bit of pink surveyor&#8217;s tape out in the forest.\u00a0 I was quite sure we had taken most of it down.
